A date with this little fellow. He opened the door as we entered and placed our orders. We sat and talked. He asked some questions; some I had no answers to. He expressed some emotions and feelings about some situations he feels are unfair in life to him. His genuine concern about me and his sister Leia.
I ultimately believe that no child is too young to express themselves. I gave him the opportunity to freely share his feelings. It's a lot for a little boy. I expressed to him that it's ok to not to feel ok sometimes. What's not ok is taking these emotions to become self-destructive or hurt others.
I often take moments to check in on how he is feeling and allow him to communicate freely. I assert his mind and reassure his heart that he is safe. I have to remind myself that when little people are overwhelmed by big emotions; my job is to share my calm and not join the chaos. #parenting
